Mishka Nansi’s work is based in sound art, sculpture and installation - creating fully immersive sensory environments. Communicating a collection of progressive ideas to push the boundaries of technology and artistic skills, Mishka works with a variety of organic materials combined with electronics to create kinetic sculptures with viewer interaction a focal point. Bending and stretching surroundings to produce frantic and kinetic internal dialogue, Mishka destructs conventional viewing of artwork, instead broadening to interactive immersive aural, visual and fire based works to counter generic consciousness.
Mishka’s work commentates with informed societal and cultural knowledge, especially in relation to the UK where she was born. Music has been an integral force to Mishka help heighten creativity and this has led to producing sound art albums. The sound art is often narrative, with a teaser of recognition being snatched from underfoot. The work is narrative, allowing the viewer to journey through elements of electronic vibrations that tell of far off dimensions and untold stories. There is a constant rush in these works which provides the opposite of intimate listening, often it is unavoidable, the volume of the sound providing an important element as the bass rumbles through the works, holding up notions of familiarity and normal societal behaviours and then disbarring them completely.
Throughout Mishka’s work there is a certain playfulness which is informed by a great interest in social behaviours. During the interactive works, Mishka pushes the viewer to perform alongside the work adding a textured layer to the way the work is viewed. The further reflection of the viewers is philosophically intriguing alongside the exploration of complex personal internal philosophies which are in turn interacted with by the viewer.
Much of Mishka’s work involves spatial creation where the viewer becomes fully immersed in their surroundings in order to transcend generic episteme and opening up personal questioning and enlightenment. Building interdimensional spaces provoking all of the senses using Sound Art, electronic sculpture and strong visual imagery.
As a collection, the main focus of Mishka’s work is to investigate creation of a portal into another dimension / reality. By exploring what is possible inside and outside the range of human consciousness, the darker depths of internal thoughts are lit up and dialogues created, utilising all of the human senses create a timespace which questions the inaccuracies of the existence we process in day to day life.
